Our Cases
Information about cases referred to the Standards Commission, including scheduled and concluded Hearings are provided in the table below.
Hearings start at 9:30 unless otherwise stated.
If there is no entry in the Hearing Date / Time column, the date for the Hearing is still to be arranged.
Press Releases are available to download within five working days of the conclusion of the Hearing.
Full Written Decisions are available to download within 21 days of the conclusion of the Hearing.
Information about Hearings & Cases will be kept for 7 years from the date of the Standards Commission’s full written decision. After this, details about the case will be removed from the website and will no longer be available, in line with the Standards Commission’s Document Retention Schedule.
In order to be as accessible as possible, the Standards Commission will usually hold the Hearing at a venue in the area of the headquarters of the Local Authority (where the Respondent is a councillor); or at the venue where the devolved public body holds its meetings (if the Respondent is a member of a devolved public body).
If any Hearing is to be held online it will be livestreamed. When a livestream is in progress, a link will be found here. To view the Hearing, click on the link taking you to our YouTube page.
While Hearings are normally open to the public and press, social distancing guidelines in place during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic mean that the Standards Commission may have to hold the Hearing online or limit the number of attendees. If we are holding the Hearing online or unable to accommodate the public and press it will be livestreamed with a link provided on this page.
If we are able to accommodate the public and press at a Hearing to be held in person (rather than online), we will do so on a first come, first served basis. If you would like to reserve a place at a Hearing, please email: enquiries@standardscommission.org.uk with your name and the Hearing you wish to attend. We will then reply to let you know if you have been allocated a space at the Hearing. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND IF YOU HAVE NOT RESERVED A SPACE.
Please note that we will publish a full written decision on the website following the conclusion of a Hearing. We will also prepare a press release. If you would like a copy of this to be emailed to you at the conclusion of the Hearing, please let us know.
